I grew up in a family dedicated to preserving fresh, wholesome food during an era when canning was the primary way that vegetables and fruits were packed. Alongside my brother Peter, I immersed myself in every aspect of my family’s cannery business, from planting and harvest to preserving, sales and distribution. After I finished college and served in the Navy overseas, I had an opportunity to head west with Peter to purchase a historic cannery in Salem, Oregon. After upgrading the facility and equipment, we established Truitt Bros., Inc. and dedicated our company to processing and packing Northwest-grown green beans and orchard fruit. By the mid-70s, our business had evolved beyond canning and we became one of the first processors in the United States to preserve nutritious and delicious meals in pouches using thermal processing and retort equipment. Today, Truitt Bros. remains an innovator in thermally processed shelf-stable foods specializing in the commercial marketplace. Now, with world-class production facilities strategically placed in Oregon and Kentucky, our experienced team develops and produces more than 400 varieties of shelf-stable meals annually, featuring thousands of ingredients and global flavors, for a wide variety of customers and brands, both domestic and international. For more than 40 years, Truitt Bros. has been synonymous with high quality, safe, great tasting shelf-stable entrees.
